In the last 15 years, the team has qualified for the playoffs 13 times, more than any other club in the league. The Black Wings can count on a very dedicated and steadily growing fanbase. In the autumn of 2014 the home arena (Keine Sorgen EisArena) was expanded and now holds 4,865 spectators. As the VOEST is situated in Linz, the city is also called "steel city" (Stahlstadt) and therefore the hockey team is very commonly also called "Stahlstädter" (steel city folk).
