Liverpool vs Hull City Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews English Premier League

Jurgen Klopp looks to have transformed Liverpool over the summer break into a team that are real contenders. They opened the season with a thrilling 4-3 defeat of Arsenal at the Emirates, and despite suffering a big blow in the unlikely loss to Burnley, they have bounced back emphatically.

A 5-0 hammering of Burton Albion in the League Cup got them straight back on the horse, and they then secured a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane. Since then they have beaten Leicester 4-1, Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, and Derby County 3-0 away from home in the League Cup.

This takes Liverpool to 6th in the Premier League table, but their recent performances against top teams such as Spurs, Arsenal, Leicester, and Chelsea are far more impressive than their position in the league table. The lack of European football means that they are in a good position to push towards the top of the table, although that might well be beyond their reach at the present moment.

Hull won instant promotion back to the Premier League last season and began the campaign with a surprising 2-1 win at home to Premier League champions Leicester. They followed this with another impressive victory, this time at Swansea, before beating Exeter City in the League Cup.

However, this emphatic start to the campaign was never likely to last very long, and a last gasp 1-0 defeat to Manchester United has set them on a potential road to ruin. They drew 1-1 with fellow promotion winners Burnley the next game and last weekend lost 4-1 at home to Arsenal.

Hull did manage to get back to winning ways in midweek when they came from a goal behind to beat the dreadfully out of form Stoke with an injury time winner in the League Cup. This could potentially be the start of a resurgence, but in all honesty I think Liverpool have far too much quality and form on their side.

Going forward Liverpool have looked excellent this season and have scored 19 goals in their seven competitive matches. Four of these seven games have seen them net at least three goals. Hull have a host of injury concerns at the back as well, and it showed last weekend when they shipped four at home to Arsenal. Odds of 5/6 for Liverpool Over 2.5 Team Goals looks a good value bet, and I’m backing that alongside a 4-1 correct score prediction at huge odds of 18/1.

Prediction Liverpool vs Hull City

It is going to be very, very hard for Hull given Liverpool’s recent from.

Coming off the back of a 3-0 win at Derby Liverpool will be in confident mood and Jurgen Klopp is desperate for his team to ride the wave of momentum.

That being said, Hull haven’t been the struggling team many predicted at the beginning of the season and will head to Anfield organised as ever under Phelan.

Liverpool have enough to win the game but Hull are capable of capatilising on Liverpool’s somewhat suspect defending, especially if they hand Robert Snodgrass the chance to shoot from a free-kick.

Head-to-Head Liverpool vs Hull City

Hull have never won a game at Anfield in their ten previous attempts, a run stretching back to November 6th, 1954 when the two sides played each other for the first time Liverpool won that match 2-1.

‘Don’t sell McShane, super Paul McShane!’ – Is what we imagine Hull fans singing when he gave them the lead at Anfield a few years back.
