Manchester United vs Leicester City Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews English Premier League

Manchester United have been written off by the critics already after a torrid couple of weeks. Their perfect start to the new season ended as Manchester City came to town, with Pep Guardiola outclassing his old foe once again in a 2-1 win.

This was followed by a drab display at Feyenoord which resulted in a 1-0 defeat, and they then lost 3-1 at Watford in the Premier League to make it three defeats in a row for the first time since last December. It was the first time Jose Mourinho had suffered three losses on the bounce since his Porto days.

Manchester United made sure it wasn’t to be four defeats in a row on Wednesday though, with goals from Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, and Marcus Rashford giving them a comfortable 3-1 win over Northampton Town in the League Cup, aided by the dreadful night endured by their goalkeeper.

Jose Mourinho will be hoping that this victory can spur his side on to perform better than the last couple of weeks, but hosting the Premier League champions isn’t the easiest fixture in the world.

Leicester began the season with a 2-1 defeat at Wembley to Manchester United in the Community Shield, and they followed this with a surprise loss to Hull and a draw with Arsenal to make for a rather disappointing start to their Premier League title defence.

They got off the mark with a 2-1 win against Swansea though, and despite a humbling at the hands of Liverpool they bounced back with a 3-0 win over Club Brugge in their first ever Champions League match. A 3-0 win against Burnley followed, but midweek saw them field a rather strong team in the League Cup. They went 2-0 up against Chelsea but were pegged back by the end of 90 minutes, with the game being taken to extra time and Leicester losing 4-2.

Both teams have always looked like they had a goal in them this season, with both Manchester United and Leicester finding the net in all but one of their matches. Manchester United have conceded in six of their eight games though, whilst Leicester have in five of their eight outings.

This makes odds of 4/5 for Both Teams to Score look an attractive backing, so that’s what I’m going for,for my main prediction. Leicester have lost two of their three away days in all competitions this season though, so I’m going for a 2-1 win for Manchester United at 8/1 for my correct score prediction.

Head to Head Manchester United vs Leicester City

Manchester United beat Leicester City 2-1 in the Community Shield to open this season.

Last season both Premier League games ended with the same 1-1 scoreline.

Manchester United are now unbeaten in 8 home games against Leicester City and had won 6 in a row before the draw last season.

Prediction Manchester United vs Leicester City

It has been a difficult week for Jose Mourinho, but he would have been relieved his Manchester United team avoided any upset in the English Football League Cup when beating Northampton Town during the week. This is another big test for Manchester United having lost back to back Premier League games and it might also be a big test of the Mourinho character as he tries to solve the Wayne Rooney conundrum.

Rooney has been a player on the decline for a few years which has been papered over by some poor performances from those around him. However he is looking to be the problem more and more and Mourinho has to see what the fans have been seeing for years and the same thing the media chooses to ignore.

The England captain is terrible in possession and the only passes he can make with confidence are usually from his own half and going back towards his own goal. His presence in the team is making it harder for Paul Pogba to flourish and Rooney has to be dropped.

Otherwise another poor performance from Rooney will result in another potentially damaging loss against an improving Leicester City who are now comfortable playing with the tag of Champions. They are not as strong at the back, but Leicester City have shown they do have goals in the side and I can see this live Saturday lunchtime kick off perhaps being one of the more entertaining ones of the weekend.

Both games last season ended with both teams scoring and the same occurred in the Community Shield with a winner being found by Manchester United. I do think both teams will likely hit the back of the net in this one too, but once again I will be looking for a winner and I will back at least three goals to be shared out between the two clubs.
