Everton vs Burnley
English Premier League, Season 2017/18
Date: Sunday, 1st October 2017
Kick-off at 14:15 UK/ 15:15 CET
Venue: Goodison Park (Liverpool).

Ronald Koeman admitted his team looked "scared" during their disappointing 2-2 draw with Apollon in the Europa League on Thursday. Back in the Premier League, despite making significant investment in the summer Everton have taken just seven points from their opening six games.
However, Everton have won 11 of their last 13 Premier League home games in 2017 (L2) - no other top-flight side has won more at home.

Burnley won't be fazed by their trip to Goodison Park after taking nine points from their first half dozen matches. Five of those points have come on the road, including a victory at Chelsea and a draw at Wembley with Tottenham.

Everton vs Burnley: Head-to-head

Last season, the teams won their respective home games, Everton 3-1 and Burnley 2-1.

None of their six Premier League meeting saw a stalemate, Everton won 4 time with the remaining two ended in Burnley’s favour.

The Toffees can also boast of a 100% win record against Burnley in English Premier League fixtures.

Everton vs Burnley: Prediction

Everton will have the confidence to get a positive result after finishing strongly against Bournemouth last week. Yet, their inability to create enough scoring chances could dent their chances here. Especially when Burnley are a team that sit deep and defend in games away from home. Also, the visitors had already bagged points from their three away games, all coming against elite teams in the league.

So, there is every chance for this match to end in a stalemate, which could eventually end Everton’s three match winning run at home against the Clarets.

Team news

Everton will assess centre-backs Michael Keane (foot) and Phil Jagielka (hamstring).

Oumar Niasse, who has netted three times in his last two appearances, is set to return having missed the Europa League draw with Apollon Limassol on Thursday as he was not included in the Toffees' squad for the group stage of the competition.

Wayne Rooney injured his hand in that match but, with a subsequent scan showing no fracture, has been passed fit to play on Sunday, while boss Koeman has said James McCarthy (knee) needs Under-23s game time before he makes his first-team comeback.
Burnley duo Jon Walters and Nahki Wells will again sit out.

Walters continues to struggle with a knee problem while Wells is yet to make his debut for the Clarets because of an ankle injury but is now working with the squad.

The same is true of midfielder Dean Marney, who has been sidelined since January after rupturing knee ligaments.

Match stats

Everton have won all three home Premier League matches against Burnley, scoring six and conceding just one in those victories.
The Clarets have only kept one clean sheet in their last 32 league matches against the Toffees, a 1-0 win in August 2009.
The Toffees have lost their last four Premier League games on a Sunday by an aggregate score of 1-12.
Should Burnley win this match, they will have surpassed their away Premier League points tally for the whole of last season - they've won five points so far this season (W1 D2 L0) and picked up just seven in the entirety of last season (W1 D4 L14).
43 per cent of Burnley attempts at goal this season have come from set-piece situations; a league-high proportion. However, they have also allowed opponents the highest total from these scenarios as well (40 shots).
Oumar Niasse has scored 83 per cent of his Premier League goals as a substitute (5/6), second only to Matt Derbyshire (90 per cent) of players with 5+ goals in the competition.
