Louis van Gaal confirms Arjen Robben meeting on Monday, transfer reports set for lift off

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal didn't leave Bayern Munich on the best of terms with everyone at the football club. Some there had seen him as an arrogant Dutchman, with an alarming lack of self awareness, and when he first brought Arjen Robben to the German club, the winger was viewed as something of a teacher's pet and someone who Van Gaal only kept in the team because of his nationality.

Things obviously changed very quickly and now Robben is adored but it doesn't erase from history what happened and Van Gaal isn't too pally with the German club's hierarchy.

Now at Manchester United, Louis van Gaal is in charge of a team without Champions League football this week but his neighbours Manchester City are set to welcome Bayern Munich to the city.

SportBild have been surprised to see Van Gaal at the team hotel in Manchester and asked him why he was visiting the club, to which the Manchester United manager replied "I don't visit Bayern, but Arjen Robben. I do not go to the banquet." source: sportwitness.ning.com

Manchester United transfer rumours have often surrounded Arjen Robben and the Dutch international has been happy to talk about those, confirming his huge respect for Van Gaal but insisting he's happy at Bayern Munich. That hasn't stopped the reports and the two men meeting this week will kick them off again.
