Manchester United Close in to Sign €36m Colombian Superstar Juan Cuadrado

Juan Cuadrado Colombia World CupChelsea were supposed to wrap up the deal for Colombian international Juan Cuadrado but a new challenger has come up in the form of Manchester United.

The Red Devils are eager to secure the services of the Fiorentina playmaker who was one of the best players in the World Cup.

Cuadrado provided the highest number of assists in World Cup 2014 to help his side qualify for the last eight and his ability to add both to attack and defense is something both Mourinho and Van Gaal want from his players.

According to reports, Manchester United are closing in to hijack Cuadrado from Chelsea after submitting a €29m bid for the versatile attacker. courtesy of soccerisma.com

As per the provided link, the offer has not yet been accepted or rejected but it is less than the €36m release clause Cuadrado has in his contract.

The question remains, do United need him more or Chelsea?

Mourinho for now has a perfect starter on the right hand side with Willian who is brilliant in attack and tracks back to defend as well. Other than that, Mou is not a huge fan of Salah or Schurrle as it seems from the playing time they have got.

Van Gaal on the other hand needs defenders or midfielders more than a playmaker. However, if he intends to continue playing 3-5-2 system then Cuadrado is perfect for the wingback role in that system.

It will be an intriguing battle between Chelsea and United. We shall see how the saga unfolds.
