MTK Budapest are definitely not looking good so far this season. After losing a lot of pre – season game, the bad form has continued in Europa League and NBI League in Hungary. They have managed to barely eliminate Aktobe from Kazakhstan in the first round, but another Baltic team is probably going to end their European journey. MTK Budapest have hosted and lost the first leg match to Qabala, the runners – up from Azerbaijan Premyer Liqa. The final result of that match was 1 – 2 and the Hungarians should feel lucky because they were totally outplayed. We all know that games in former Russian republics are always specific because of the conditions, weather, and fans. Chances for MTK to surprise Qabala are probably very low, plus they will have to make a long trip to Azerbaijan.
A terrible form of V.Teodoru and his squad was confirmed last weekend in the first round of Hungarian first division. MTK Budapest have hosted Vasas and lost that game as well. Fans are furious and hungry for blood. Chances for Teodoru to keep his position of head manager are minimal if they fail to qualify to the 3rd round of Europa League.
Bad form of MTK and great performances by Qabala have forced the bookies to label the home squad as big favorite tomorrow. At the moment the odds for Qabala to win are 13/20, while chances for MTK to recover and pull a victory are 17/4. The only part of MTK’s team which is doing a solid job are their strikers. Their veteran and arguably the best player Sandor Torghelle is very silent so far this season. He managed to score 11 goals for MTK last season.
