Bordeaux vs Nantes
French Ligue 1
Date: Sunday, 28th August
Kick Off: 20:00 GMT+7
Venue: Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux
Venue: Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux
Bordeaux’s Nicolas Pallios completed getting sent off in every season
he has played with the club which has now been three when he was given
his marching orders in the 4-1 loss to Toulouse last week. The club will
therefore be without a defender that they have relied on for some time.
They did gain an entertaining 3-2 victory over St Etienne when they
last played at home.
Nantes beat Dijon 1-0 in the first week of Ligue 1 which was hardly
surprising and then lost at home to Monaco by the same score. It’s early
in the season but it’s quite clear that the Canaries are not firing on
all cylinders which have been the problem that has pursued the club for
the last few seasons.
Bordeaux v Nantes: Head to Head
Bordeaux have gone 3 games undefeated to Nantes in league matches and
usually win this fixture at home against them. In 3 of the last 4 games
here they have been able to score at least 2 goals. Sandwiched in
between that was a rare 3-0 victory for the Canaries.
Bordeaux won 2-0 in the corresponding fixture of last season, while
they earned an entertaining 2-2 at Nantes. The correct score of 2-0 for
the home team has come up three times in the last decade.
They also met in the Coupe de France fixture last season, which was eventually won by Nantes in the added extra time.
Bordeaux v Nantes: Prediction
We should see an open game just like Bordeaux’s first match here, the
problem for the home club is their leaky defence. They have already
conceded 6 goals in just two matches. Along with Lorient that is easily
the most let in the league so far. But Nantes evidently is not scoring
much at the moment. The home side should have enough in the tank to see
this one through.
