Reason For Betting Tips
Metz
secured an instant return to the top tier of French football after
being relegated in the 2014/15 season. It wasn’t an easy push for
promotion though, with them only securing promotion on goals scored over
Le Havre in 4th position after the two were tied on points and goal
difference after 38 games.
The newly promoted side did manage to
kick their Ligue 1 campaign off with an excellent performance at home
against Lille. The visiting Lille side had the second best defensive
record in Ligue 1 last season, with only PSG conceding more than them,
but Metz managed to put three past them as they won 3-2 courtesy of a
brace from new signing Mevlut Erdinc and two penalties in the final 15
minutes to flip the match on it’s head.
Metz couldn’t have been
expected to pull off the same feat in their second league game of the
season though as they visited the dominant French champions PSG, coming
away on the end of a comfortable and expected 3-0 defeat.
Angers
enjoyed an incredible season last term after coming up from Ligue 2,
eventually finishing the season in an impressive 9th position despite an
horrendous end to the season and another very poor run of form back in
February. They were only eight points off the Europa League
qualification spots as well, so a few wins during these poor periods
could have turned an excellent season into a sensational one.
However,
so far this season they have failed to impress. They opened the
campaign with a drab 1-0 loss at Montpellier before hosting Nice, who
also beat them 1-0 in another disappointing performance from Angers.
Metz
have looked up for it so far this season, and I don’t think a defeat at
PSG will have damaged their confidence too much. Angers have lost eight
of their last 12 away days in Ligue 1 as well, winning just twice.
Considering their performances so far this season I think odds of 1.700
for a Metz 0.0 Asian Handicap Win are good value, and I’m also backing
another 1-0 correct score prediction at 5/1.
Metz vs Angers: Head to Head
This is really a staple Ligue 2 fixture as these clubs have met in the lower league many times but this will be their first Ligue 1 fixture. In five games going back almost a decade Angers have only won here once back in 2008 when they pulled off a 1-0 win. But the most common result has been a 1-0 home win or a 1-1 draw. Angers are still looking for their first goal of the campaign.
In the last two games here Bastia has come away with a point and they would be happy for this before the game. Caen has not won this fixture for the past five games going back six years where many draws in between have taken place. We have only seen 5 goals in the past four fixtures and we should expect a low scoring game and a slow cautious start based on these prior head to heads.
Metz v Angers: Prediction
Traditionally Metz don’t score many goals even if they did get three against Lille in their first home game. And traditionally Metz are draw specialists. The correct score of 1-1 is very tempting to take on, as is the draw at half time.
