Reason For Marseille vs Bordeaux Betting Tips

Match day 11 in Ligue 1 concludes on Sunday night at Stade Velodrome as Rudi Garcia’s Marseille seek to force their way into the top half of the table with a victory against Jocelyn Gourvennec’s Bordeaux.

Without any silverware since their Coupe De La Ligue triumph in 2011-12, it’s been a dour few seasons for Marseille.  However, last weekend’s 0-0 draw at champions PSG will have given Les Olympiens army of supporters hope that better times are just around the corner.

Whilst PSG largely flattered to deceive, Marseille showed excellent battling qualities to come away from Parc Des Princes with a point and they will be optimistic about building on that result in Sunday’s feature game when Bordeaux visit the Velodrome.

Taking over Marseille was never going to be an easy task for former Roma boss Rudi Garcia but he’s clearly starting to get the basics right, guiding his team to an unbeaten start at home with three wins and two draws which bodes well for them going into this fixture.

Whilst not quite faced with the same expectations as Marseille, Bordeaux have similarly suffered a quiet few seasons and were not amongst the favourites for European qualification this term after an 11th place finish in 2015/16.

They have, however, made a promising start under new boss Jocelyn Gourvennec, taking 15 points from ten games to sit on the fringes of the top six.

A 2-0 defeat to PSG at the start of October appeared to have knocked Gourvennec’s men as they turned in rather flat performances against Rennes and Nancy on match day’s 9 and 10 (both finished 1-1) but there was improvement during their 0-2 midweek Coupe De La Ligue success at Chateauroux to send them into Sunday’s clash in good heart.

Marseille also won in midweek against Clermont Foot to progress to the next round and things will start looking even rosier for Garcia’s side if they can bag a vital three points here.

They were held 0-0 in last season’s corresponding fixture but we’ll back Marseille to remain on the upgrade this weekend and pinch a 1-0 win.
