Reason For Southport vs Fleetwood Town Betting Tips
Fleetwood travel to take on National League in what could be a potentially tricky cup tie on Monday night, but the visitors have a good record against this opposition and they are fancied to come through the other side intact.
At odds of 11/20, ‘Fleetwood to Win & Over 2.5 Goals’ is a good bet to go for ahead of this one. In reality, the visitors should prove to be the superior side here and this is fancied to show in the score-line.
Although they’ve not been in great league form away from home, facing non-league opposition provides a different challenge, one that should be far less demanding. One real positive ahead of this is the fact that, even when they aren’t winning games in League One, Fleetwood are still scoring goals. They’ve scored in every away match that they’ve played this season and, in terms of ability level, Monday’s opponents are likely to be the weakest they’ve faced. It would be a disappointment if this goal-scoring wasn’t taken to the next level here.
Southport haven’t been in bad form at home in the National League, but they won’t have faced a side of Fleetwood’s level and the hosts are likely to struggle. They’ve conceded in all but two of their home matches this season and this stats certainly won’t be bettered here. On top of this, three of their four home defeats this season have seen more than three goals hit the net.
These two teams met in a pre-season friendly and, although this might not be the most reliable form, the difference in class showed there as Fleetwood won 3-1 at this very ground. This might be a competitive match, but the disparity from before should still be there and the visitors can claim the victory in a relatively high-scoring encounter.

National League also-rans Southport finished down in 16th last season and have fell right back into old habits this time, currently glancing around nervously in 19th-place. They remain just three points better off than the relegation zone but their form is improving and they won’t feature on many betting tips to be relegated come the final count.
Steve Burr’s side have, in fact, won each of their last two starts and after drawing with Sutton United, they went on to beat York and Torquay. The latter came on their most recent start when fighting back from a goal down away to Torquay to grab the three points courtesy of a second-half fightback. Brett Williams scored a peach of a goal on 25-minutes to put the hosts in front and although they took their time about it, Callum Howe kept his head to score an equaliser on 67 before James Caton slotted home the winner with a quarter of the match remaining. The victory would have boosted confidence no end.
Bookies don’t fancy a repeat performance here though and there will be few predictions for a local win, even with Bet Victor willing to offer it at a lovely 13/2. The draw isn’t much more likely at 37/10 with Sportingbet while Southport just to score a goal, regardless of the outcome, is 6/10 with William Hill.

When Fleetwood last made the trip to Southport in a Blue Square Premier match back in 2012 they left with a 6-0 win and punters who fancy history to repeat itself will be calling in sick to work on Monday with 125/1 available at Paddy Power. Nice, but not a betting tip you’d see me putting forward.
The Trawlermen find themselves in 10th-place in League One after 16-matches but they remain right in the mix of the promotion picture and are just two points worse off than the play-off places. They have struggled for wins of late however and a 2-1 cheer over Gillingham can be found sandwiched between a couple of defeats, to Millwall and Bristol Rovers (highlights below), both coming by way of a 2-1 full time result. The latter came in midweek despite taking the lead after just four-minutes through an Ashley Hunter strike. It stayed like that until the hour-mark when Matty Taylor headed an equaliser before Montano Castillo won the points on 73-minutes. It was tough to take for Fleetwood, but was a fair outcome, all things considered.
Odds compilers are willing to forgive and forget it would seem and the away day is priced no better than William Hill’s 1/2. Not bad, when you have 1/5 best about them to qualify for the second round. Fleetwood -2 on the handicap, thinking back to that 6-0 drubbing, stands out at 7/2 with Paddy Power.
Southport vs Fleetwood – FA Cup Betting Predictions
There’s not much price about Fleetwood to win this match, but I do think they are worthy favourites and put them forward as the NAP of my betting tips. Half Time/Full Time gives you a bit more with Paddy Power giving punters a bit of respite at 5/4. That may be a tad more appealing.
For my prediction at a better price I am going for Fleetwood to win both halves at 11/4, again with Paddy Power. They started fast last time out and will get chances to do the same again here in front of a bumper audience. It’s not a bad price and rates as an interest bet worth keeping an eye on.
