Wilson 'more productive' than Januzaj who hasn't taken his chances at United - ex-Gunner

James Wilson received the nod to start against Stoke City, illustrating Louis van Gaal's faith in his talent.

The striker scored on his first team debut against Hull City last season, and this was his first start for the club since then.

Another teenager who was a regular in the first team last season but has found opportunities difficult to come by under Van Gaal is Adnan Januzaj, with only four starts this campaign. source: hereisthecity.com

During these he is yet to make a real case for himself, without a goal or assist, and will have been disappointed to miss out against Stoke with Angel di Maria missing through injury.

Former Arsenal star Charlie Nicholas believes Wilson simply offers more than the Belgian teenager.

He told SkySports: "I like his movement, he has genuine pace. Januzaj has had quite a few chances and not taken them.

"This lad is more productive. His pace in wide areas gives options. These are the type of home games you can put them in."

Wilson will be disappointed then, not to add an end product to his game against Stoke, missing a great chance midway through the second half.

It was though an opportunity of his own making, a superb run to put himself through on goal, and looked bright enough to warrant more games.

Whether he will get them however with Radamel Falcao back fit again, is another matter.
