Varberg vs Syrianska Live Stream, Preview and Prediction Sweden Superettan 2016

Varberg have enjoyed a bit of a rise through the rankings over the past seven years or so coming up from the 4th tier of Swedish football to the Superettan since 2010. They have been regulars in the Superettan since 2012, with them steadily improving their position in the league and aiming towards the ultimate goal of top flight football.

This season isn’t going as well as they would have hoped for though. They finished 5th in the Superettan last season but a recent dip in form has pushed them down to 7th in the table. They are currently one point adrift of 5th placed Varnamo but nine points off the promotion playoff spots.

Varberg’s recent form is to blame for this increasing gap, with each of their last three outings ending in defeat and just one point gained from their last four matches. Prior to that they were enjoying a very successful five match winning streak that had increased their standing.

However, Thursday’s clash provides a very good opportunity for them to gain some points. Syrianska are in terrible form at the moment, with six defeats and four draws making for a ten match streak without a win in the Superettan.

This has unsurprisingly seen them drop down the table at a rapid rate and they come into this match down in 15th position with just 13 points from their 18 matches so far. This leaves them two points off the relegation playoff positions and five points adrift of the safety of 12th place. They were relegated from the Allsvenskan in 2013 and it doesn’t look like they’ll be returning any time soon.

Away from home, Syrianska have lost four of their last six matches and are without a win in all of their nine matches this season, whilst Varberg have won three of their last five and lost once.

This makes odds of 4/5 for a Varberg win look good value for money so I’m backing that along with a 2-0 correct score prediction at 13/2.
